Tip of the week , Dust is a Killer !

Hi
Paul, here from TheNousTek

Today I would like to talk about Laptop and Desktop care.
in today's computer world our machines are getting faster and faster.
With that speed comes a price though many may or may not be aware of
speed produces friction and friction produces heat so in order for or electronics to operate correctly
we must keep them running as cool as possible.
of course most of us know to make sure the fans in side a Laptop or Desktop are running while in use, how ever some times we over look the next Killer lurking around the corner and under our feet, this Killer is Dust!
Dust and Smoke together can create an insulation over your computers insides and prevent the machine from cooling properly, in the same way that insulation keeps the heat in your home.
How ever for your computer this is a very bad thing, as it will damage the chips and components inside the computer.

So, may tip is about every 30 days or so take the side off your desktop or flip your laptop over and spay out the dust as much as you can.
there is canned air at most any shopping market these days , WalMart, Fred Myers, even Safeway, and of course Radio Shake. its fairly cheap and will insure that your computer lives a good long life free of the Killer Dust Bunnies that lurk under our feet.

That's all for today, until next time Keep on Computing.
Thanks

Computer Tip of the day

Hi,

Today's tip is a well known practice, how ever it does slip through the cracks some times.
Virus Protection...
Pretty much ever one knows they should protect their computers from virus threats right.
all though a lot of people when buying a new computer notice that this great new tool comes loaded
with one of the big name virus protection software bundles.

What most do not know is that this software has a shelf life, what I mean by that is at the end of some time period the software will no longer protect their computer, and at this point it becomes nothing more than a useless slug that really slows the performance of the computer its installed on.

Let me back up a bit, if the big name virus software is updated and the subscription is renewed then it will continue to protect the users machine, how ever it must be updated and with out a renewed subscription it will not function as intended. There fore will not protect from virus threats any longer.

So my tip is that if you buy a new computer, it will come with one of these programs.
make sure when the subscription runs out that you either renew it or uninstall it and down load
one of the many Free Virus protection programs from the Internet...
here is a list of some that I would Endorse.

1) Avast http://www.avast.com
2) AVG http://www.AVG.com
3) SuperAntiSpyWare http://www.SuperAntiSpyware.com

please take a few moments and check out these links, they are totally free and work very well.

That's it for today.

Thanks and Keep On Computing.

Computer Tip of the Day!

Good Day All,

Well toady I would like to talk about you're desktop computer...
I guess this would be true for any computer really.
most of us all know that our computer's are an electronic device.
what most people may or may not know is that in order to operate correctly and efficiently.
an electronic device must remain cool to some degree.
over heating can cause many electronic devices, not just computers to die prematurely.
So some advice I pass to my clients in regards to their computers, Take the time once a month to
purchase a spray can of air and blow as much dust out of you're desktop or laptop as you can.
make sure the power is off before attempting this procedure.
you're Desktop or Laptop will really love this kind of care.
if this task is out of you're comfort zone talk to your local Tech, I'm sure they would be glad to help out with the task..
tell them

Todays Computer Tip Laptop Batteries!

Good Morning,

Today I want to talk about a very misunderstood notion about Laptop Batteries.
most folks believe that the battery in their Laptop should stay in the machine at all times...

How ever this can damage the battery over time, The advice I give to my clients is to remove the main battery when it reads fully charged if using the Laptop while the AC Adapter is plugged into the wall.
This will extend the life of the battery and prevent it from becoming damaged.

Until Next time Have a Great Day.
Thanks
